American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists Applauds HHS decision to Drop Aborted Fetal Tissue Research Contract

The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, representing over 4000 Reproductive Health Medical Professionals, applauds the HHS for both scientific integrity and commitment to defend the most vulnerable human beings from being illegally trafficked for their body parts. AAPLOG joined other medical professional organizations (Catholic Medical Association, Christian Medical and Dental Association, and American College of Pediatricians) as well as other signers of the letter which brought this issue to the attention of the administration.

Today HHS released a statement on the termination of the contract with Advanced Bioscience Resources Inc. until ABR’s aborted fetal tissue procurement practices could be further investigated.

AAPLOG applauds HHS for starting a long overdue review of all human fetal tissue acquisitions and contracts to ensure compliance with the law. This action by HHS is a necessary first step in bringing federal programs in compliance with the law. HHS’s action today is critically important to ensure that the tax dollars taken from Americans are used for research which does not violate the serious regulatory, moral and ethical considerations that the federal government is responsible to uphold.

AAPLOG applauds the courage and integrity of the HHS in beginning this much needed self-regulatory process.
