AAPLOG Action has published its 2025 Policy Manual. In this first of its kind document, AAPLOG’s 501(c)4 advocacy arm explains its top policy priorities at both the federal and state levels, including:
- Strengthening conscience rights protections
- Offering continuing medical education for physicians practicing in states with abortion regulations
- Promoting pro-life ballot initiatives and fighting pro-abortion ones
- Ensuring that medical training in induced abortion is opt-in rather than opt-out
- Improving maternal health outcomes
- Supporting pregnancy resource centers and other life-affirming services
- Combating drug-induced abortions
- Improving abortion data collection
- Eliminating taxpayer funding of induced abortion
- Affirming the humanity of the preborn child
For each of these priorities, the manual offers background explaining its importance as well as specific policy goals.
The manual states,
With this policy manual, we want to not just push back on the lies and harmful public policy from the other side, but also promote life-affirming policies that are good for our patients and our profession. We know that addressing one of our patient populations is not mutually exclusive to caring for the other in the public policy space.
Appended to the Policy Manual is AAPLOG’s Glossary of Medical Terms, a tool that was originally published in 2023. The Glossary offers guidance for life-affirming policymakers and medical professionals to ensure the use of language that is both medically accurate and affirming of the humanity of both of our patients, pregnant and preborn.
Rebecca Weaver, AAPLOG’s Director of Policy and Advocacy, states, “As the medical voice of the pro-life movement, AAPLOG Action is uniquely positioned to advise leaders in the policy sector as they seek to pass life-affirming legislation. We hope this manual aids in ensuring that some of the most urgent needs of our members and their patients are met.”
We are honored to advocate alongside policymakers for the interests of our pregnant and preborn patients. If you have any questions about these policy priorities or want to work with us in advocating for your patients, don’t hesitate to email us at director@aaplogaction.org.
