On March 30th, in honor of National Doctors’ Day, AAPLOG launched a new digital campaign aimed at mobilizing pro-life medical professionals and allies in all sectors to help transform the culture of medicine.
The campaign’s mission is explained in a short video, titled “Join Us on a New Path Forward for Medicine,” that exposits AAPLOG’s history and role within the pro-life movement. It also encourages medical professionals and pro-life advocates to join in the mission of the organization, which represents thousands of physicians who practice according to the principle that when they care for a pregnant woman, they have two patients – the woman and her preborn child – and must serve them both equally. This concept of caring for both our patients has sadly been lost in medicine and AAPLOG is leading the way to restore it. The mobilize webpage offers educational resources and actionable next steps for pro-life advocates who are interested in doing more to support the life-affirming medical community – whether they be fellow medical professionals, press, policymakers and staffers, or others.
“There has never been a time in AAPLOG’s 51 years of existence that it has been more important that we exist than right now,” says AAPLOG CEO Dr. Christina Francis, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist. In a world where political ideology overrides sound science and medicine, AAPLOG represents “true medical advancement, true medical science, and the way that medicine was meant to be practiced.”
Through this campaign, AAPLOG aims to combat a medical culture that has embraced and even celebrated death, while showing our colleagues our communities and our patients a new way forward for medical care – one in which all patients are valued and are treated with dignity and respect, which ultimately will lead to better health outcomes for all. This is the true purpose of medicine and it’s time to return to it!
