AAPLOG Leaders Featured at Missouri Pro-Life Action Day

Two AAPLOG leaders were featured speakers at the March 26th Pro-Life Action Day at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City. Dr. Susan Bane, the Vice Chair of the AAPLOG Board and Chair of the AAPLOG Action Board, and Rebecca Weaver, our Director of Advocacy and Policy, offered talks at the Action Day, which was organized by Missouri Right to Life. The goal of this event was to discuss the pro-abortion Amendment 3 that was passed into the state’s constitution during the November 2024 elections and how pro-life advocates can continue to defend preborn babies and pregnant mothers in spite of this challenge.

Dr. Bane’s lecture offered an overview of what life-affirming medicine is, the dangers of induced abortion, and the harms of radical pro-abortion policies like Amendment 3. “True reproductive health care — practicing life-affirming Hippocratic medicine — acknowledges the purpose of medicine is health, healing, and wholeness,” said Dr. Bane. “In the field of obstetrics and gynecology, it also acknowledges that we have a duty to care for two patients – a mom and her baby.”

Following Dr. Bane, Rebecca discussed AAPLOG’s 501(c)4 policy arm, AAPLOG Action, what its goals are, how non-medical professionals can utilize and engage with us, and how the Missouri pro-life movement can use AAPLOG Action’s advocacy efforts in Florida, where the pro-abortion constitutional amendment was defeated, as a blueprint for their efforts to try and overturn Amendment 3 and restore a respect for women and children in Missouri law.

We are so thankful for AAPLOG members Drs. Josephine Glaser and Beatrice Abraham, who were also in attendance at the Pro-Life Action Day, boldly speaking out in the public square in defense of our pregnant and preborn patients.

Notably, Missouri Right to Life and its allies are working on passing a pro-life constitutional amendment to replace Amendment 3. Such an amendment would likely be voted on in a special election, potentially in August, which means the time is ripe to mobilize a robust community of life-affirming medical professionals in Missouri. If you are interested in joining a medical coalition in Missouri to support one another as well as ensure Missourians are accurately informed about the benefits of life-affirming healthcare and the dangers of induced abortion, please contact us at info@aaplog.org.
