AAPLOG Member Dr. Kay Chandler Appointed to Serve as Arkansas Surgeon General

On February 27, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced her plan to appoint AAPLOG member Kay Chandler, MD to the position of Surgeon General of Arkansas. Governor Sanders, who took her position on January 10, campaigned on a pro-life platform and plans on spearheading several holistically pro-life initiatives, including the “Every Child Arkansas” foster care program.

Says Governor Sanders,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Kay Chandler will serve as Arkansas’ next Surgeon General, bringing strong leadership and years of medical expertise to the Department of Health,” Sanders said. “Dr. Chandler is a skilled, qualified OB- GYN who has spent decades serving women across Arkansas. […] I look forward to working together to protect the health, well-being, and individual freedoms of Arkansans.

We would like to offer Dr. Chandler our congratulations and concur with Governor Sanders’ assessment that she is exceedingly qualified to serve the people of Arkansas as Surgeon General. Dr. Chandler has been an AAPLOG member for over a decade and is a decorated OB-GYN in her community. She has been included in the national Best Doctors, Inc. List since 2005, has been named “Best OB-GYN” by Little Rock Family Magazine and AY Magazine, and has served as Medical Director of Ideal Health NOW! since 2011. She is regularly seen on her local television channel THV11’s morning news segment “Medical Monday”, where she shares women’s healthcare information. She has practiced at Cornerstone Clinic for Women since 1997. She also currently serves on the board for the Pulaski County Medical Society and on the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas Medical Society. She is married to her husband of 30 years, Jeffrey K. Chandler DDS, who serves the Little Rock area at Chandler Family Dentistry. In these tumultuous times, we are so thankful to have AAPLOG members involved in leadership that will ensure that all our patients receive the care they need.
