The U.S. Supreme Court has announced a date for the hearing of the federal chemical abortion case FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine: March 26. We hope you can join us for a rally outside the US Supreme Court in Washington, DC on the morning of oral arguments!
The Court will hear the FDA’s challenge of a lower court ruling that it must reinstate the guidelines placed on the chemical abortion drug mifepristone when it was first approved in 2000. Since then, the FDA has rolled back several of these safeguards, such as the requirement for in-person dispensation of mifepristone by the prescriber, which has opened the door for dangerous mail-order abortions with no medical supervision.
This case is crucial for the safety of our patients! And yet pro-abortion voices are saying that our call for the FDA to do its job is not medically necessary. This is why it is crucial that we have as many board-certified physicians and medical professionals in front of the court on March 26th as possible – to show the world that we advocate for what’s best for our patients! Similar to what we did for the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case that overturned Roe v. Wade. The nearly 80 medical professionals that joined us that day were a part of history – March 26th will be no less consequential, and we want you there!
AAPLOG, along with our Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine (AHM) co-organizations, will host a dinner in honor of you, our members, the evening of Monday, March 25th. We hope to have a discounted hotel block at a hotel near the Supreme Court for you as well, so that you can reserve a hotel room at a discounted rate (more information will be sent out to those who RSVP). We will gather the morning of oral arguments in the hotel lobby to walk to the Supreme Court together (wearing white coats or other medical work attire) where we will be part of a rally from 9a-12p outside the Court during oral arguments (see attached flyer). This will be not only a chance to be a part of history but also a great time to encourage one another and stand for our patients in solidarity! We want to make it as easy as possible for you to attend, so please let us know if you will be attending by registering below.
This event is open to all medical professionals.
We hope to see you there!
