Something to Celebrate! Planned Parenthood Locations Close Across Country

A report finds that 42 Planned Parenthood locations have closed or have announced plans to close as a result of efforts to defund the abortion giant, with an estimated 200 total clinics at risk.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, points out in a comment to The Federalist that these closures are in large part the abortion business’s own fault:

Planned Parenthood should look in the mirror for the reason their centers are shuttering. Even corporate media admit the abortion giant prioritizes political activism and lawsuits over health care. A recent New York Times exposĆ© featured botched abortions, leaking sewage, and a pervasive culture of patient neglect inside Planned Parenthood facilities. Many times, they’ve been offered a path to keep their funding by dropping abortions, but they refuse. Meanwhile, they have no monopoly on health, as women already go to community health centers that provide much more comprehensive care and are more accessible, outnumbering Planned Parenthoods 15:1 nationwide.

Other reports shed light on the poor quality of care offered at these clinics. One article notes that Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s Prevention Park Location in Texas, which announced its closure this year after once being the largest abortion clinic in the Western Hemisphere, failed health inspections in 2015, 2017, and 2020. The 2020 inspection report contains alarming findings: rust-covered medical equipment in the operating room that couldn’t be disinfected, packages of dilators with brown spots on them that were falsely marked as ā€œsterile,ā€ improperly packaged & sterilized equipment, invalid biological indicator tests, doctors operating on women without washing their hands, contaminated instruments used in surgery – the list goes on. You can find the inspection report for 2015 here, 2017 here, and 2020 here (though the latter is entirely redacted).

Women deserve high-quality healthcare that respects their life along with the life of their child. The predatory abortion industry does not offer this; rather, it poses a danger not only to preborn babies, but to our pregnant patients as well. As more abortion clinics close in this post-Roe era, it is imperative that we lean further into the life-affirming healthcare that we provide – at our hospitals, private practices, pregnancy centers, and more.
