What is AAPLOG Action?

Heard of AAPLOG Action, but wondering exactly what it is we do?

AAPLOG Action, launched in 2024, is the advocacy arm of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG). It is a 501(c)(4), which means AAPLOG is enabled to be much more involved in advocacy as far as endorsing and speaking for and against legislation at every level of government. Our goal is simple – position physicians where they should be, which is at the heart of policy debates regarding healthcare that daily affect all our patients, including the preborn.

Since our kickoff last year, we have already been actively engaged in:

  • Endorsing federal and state life-affirming legislation. You can see the complete list of these bills here. Organizational endorsements of legislation are essential because they help signal to both lawmakers and the public which bills will genuinely have a life-affirming impact and should be passed into law.
  • Providing medical testimony at both the state and federal levels, including before many U.S. Senate and House of Representatives Committees. Medical voices matter and are one of the most trusted voices on the abortion issue. Medical feedback and testimony on legislation are critical in this post-Dobbs era.
  • Forming medical coalitions in four states that faced extreme abortion ballot initiatives in 2024: Florida, South Dakota, Arizona, and Colorado. These medical coalitions helped combat the lies surrounding the constitutional amendments, highlighting the dangers for women and the profession, and provided a second medical voice on the measures. In fact, Governor Ron DeSantis gave our Florida medical coalition a shout-out at last year’s March for Life.

We are advocating for policies that respect the dignity of all human life. Through education and encouragement, we are equipping federal and state policymakers to promote policies that preserve and enhance life-affirming care rather than promoting death as a therapeutic option.

To follow the advocacy work we are engaged in through legislation and medical coalitions, make sure to subscribe for updates and opportunities for you to use your medical voice to influence policy decisions at every level of government.
