Planned Parenthood stands to lose $60 million in taxpayer funding under the Protect Life Rule, proposed by President Trump last month. The Protect Life Rule will redirect Title X funds from abortion businesses to life-affirming health care providers to give women true care. (Read our press release here.)
The Protect Life Rule is open for public comment until the end of July. We need all pro-life Americans, especially our colleagues in the medical field, to submit a comment to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Submissions may be up to 5,000 characters. You may write your own or you may submit the below comment that we drafted.
Thank you for standing up for life!
Example letter:
Dear President Trump and HHS Secretary Azar,
I write in support of the administration’s proposed Protect Life Rule to defund abortion providers of Title X funds. As an OB-GYN, I have seen how abortion hurts women, destroys families and harms our communities. The Protect Life Rule recognizes that women don’t need abortion. It supports life-affirming care for women, by redirecting Title X dollars to abortion-free providers. There are more than 20 alternative health care centers (like community and rural health care centers) for every 1 Planned Parenthood abortion facility. These centers are better equipped to serve women and they don’t have a financial incentive to push abortion on pregnant women.
The Protect Life Rule is a common sense clarification of the original purpose of Title X, which explicitly did not support pushing abortion as a method of family planning. Under previous administrations the intent of Title X was contorted and circumvented in order to allow abortion providers like Planned Parenthood to pay for everything up to the point of the actual abortion, including pressuring women to have abortions in their counseling. The Protect Life Rule corrects this horrendous perversion of the law and restores Title X funds to real health care facilities, instead of abortion facilities. I support the Protect Life rule that will separate abortion from real health care.
Sincerely,
