Vanderbilt Policy; Philadelphia Horrors

Dear ProLife Colleague, First some encouraging news from Vanderbilt University. Apparently bad publicity, public feedback, and the threat of loss of govt money means a lot. It is not clear how much our conscience rights mean. For those, we will have to keep fighting. Vanderbilt University Abandons Illegal Policy Excerpt from Vanderbilt University abandons illegal policy that forced nursing residents to sign abortion pledge, Alliance Defense Fund. January 12, 2011–Vanderbilt University modified its nurse residency application so that it no longer requires applicants to pledge that they will participate in abortion procedures. The university made the announcement in an e-mail to applicants one day after the Alliance Defense Fund filed a complaint with the Department of Health and Human Services. “Christians and other pro-life members of the medical community shouldn’t be forced to participate in abortions to pursue their profession. That’s what federal law says, and that’s why Vanderbilt is doing the right thing in changing its policy and application,” said ADF Legal Counsel Matt Bowman. “We will be monitoring the situation to make sure the university continues to comply with the law. It’s ironic that Vanderbilt changed its policy one day after denying that it required the pledge.” NEXT STORY: Warning: do not read this if you do not have a very strong stomach. When you read this article, ask yourself how the Public Health Officials in Philadelphia could have possibly been this inept. See url below for full account. You simply will not believe it. Then consider that 94% of abortion clinics are in urban poor areas. How many other “clinics” like this may exist in large cities in our country—not to mention the rest of the world!
