AAPLOG CEO Dr. Christina Francis Testifies at U.S. Senate Hearing on Abortion

The OB-GYN hospitalist pushed back against the common narrative that pro-life laws prevent physicians from offering lifesaving healthcare to women facing pregnancy complications.

On June 4, 2024, AAPLOG CEO and board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Christina Francis presented expert testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions during their hearing titled “The Assault on Women’s Freedom: How Abortion Bans Have Created a Healthcare Nightmare Across America”.

The OB-GYN Hospitalist testified about her experience treating two patients- women with both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies and their preborn children with excellent life affirming care, disputing the common claim that pro-life abortion laws prevent physicians from offering lifesaving healthcare to women facing pregnancy complications.

Christina Francis, MD is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who currently works as an OB-GYN Hospitalist, treating women who are hospitalized. Dr. Francis completed medical school at Indiana University in 2005 and completed her OB-GYN residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana in 2009. In addition to her position at AAPLOG, she is an associate scholar with the Charlotte Lozier Institute, a board member of Indiana Right to Life, and a physician member of the Abortion Pill Reversal Network.

Dr. Francis is an internationally sought after speaker with a passion for human rights, spending a significant portion of her life in various countries working tirelessly on behalf of women and children. She worked for three years as the only OB-GYN at a mission hospital in rural Kenya before returning to the U.S. in 2014 to work on behalf of women and children both in the U.S. and internationally. Since then, she has testified before the U.S. Congress and has written on issues surrounding women’s health and induced abortion for publications including the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and USA Today.
