Dear ProLife Colleague, President Obama’s accommodation on the contraceptive mandate is an accounting gimmick. The religious institutions still have to fund the “insurance” which buys the abortifacient. But that might not occur to a person who does not understand morally based conscience convictions. God-inspired moral convictions don’t accommodate. So much for religious institutions. But here is a critical pont: Institutions do not order abortifacients, Doctors do. So for us doctors, this is a conscience issue the President has not addressed. And in a single payer system (Obamacare), the doctor orders what the system allows and the patient wants, (at least in the area of “reproductive health”) or the doctor doesn’t get paid. How’s that for economic coercion. And it will come. To urge the government to address the religious freedom (conscience freedom) part of this, we urge you again to BE HEARD. Or we doctors will boil in our own stew of apathy and inactivity. It is easy to be heard. This will take 15 minutes if you are slow.
