Planned Parenthood to End Abortions at 7 Arizona Sites

When or where have you ever seen a headline like that before?! To get the details, go to: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/08/18/20110818arizona-planned-parenthood-ends-abortion-3-cities.html We don’t expect Planned Parenthood to roll over and play dead. They will be back. They don’t quit. This is, after all, a life and death issue-for the baby always, for the mother sometimes-but always, for the mother, a powerful lasting memory that her child has been killed. Notice in the article that the PPH spokespersons frequently and loudly complain that women will be denied needed healthcare. What kind of doctors would deny a woman desperately needed healthcare, they ask. That’s not Hippocratic, is the implication. This is blind ideology based denial of essential and compassionate healthcare, they would have the public believe. What they are missing—or rather totally distorting—is this: induced abortion is not healthcare. Healthcare heals or prevents disease. Pregnancy is not a disease, not a sexually transmitted disease, and the baby is not a parasitic tumor of some kind. The baby, no matter how small, is a human child, and pregnancy is a normal physiologic condition. AAPLOG members are committed to giving the pregnant woman and her unborn child the best possible healthcare (both preventive and indicated healthcare). In addition, we desire to see common sense medical safety regulations observed any time a woman seeks the services of a physician. (In so doing, we do not legitimize abortion—the Supreme Court has already done that). AAPLOG stands against induced abortion. AAPLOG stands for the protection of the unborn child, and for the protection of the health of the woman, whether pregnant or not. That is Hippocratic medicine. And we are encouraged to see 7 abortion sites closed.
