4-9-13 Dear Colleagues, It has been an extremely busy season for AAPLOG, from participation in numerous amicus briefs protecting your rights of conscience, to testifying in trials and responding to the media inquiries about making Plan B over the counter for children. There are wonderful opportunities available to us to speak out and influence our culture. Very soon, as the website changes are implemented, you will have a chance to let us know how you would like to participate in what AAPLOG is doing. The more we work together, the stronger our influence will be. One immediate opportunity to help is coming up at the ACOG ACM meeting. Dr. Byron Calhoun, Past President of AAPLOG, will be available to work at the AAPLOG booth. But, we need two or three other doctors who will be willing to cover the booth for an hour or two during the meeting. If you are going to be attending the ACM, can you please reply to me ASAP at prolifeob@gmail.com and let me know if you will be willing to cover the booth for an hour or two? The responsibilities involve simply introducing people to AAPLOG, and what we are about, and being willing to be pleasant and talk with the physicians who stop by for questions. Please include a cell number, so that Dr. Calhoun can coordinate times with you , and answer any questions that you might have. Another important opportunity is giving financially to support our work. An easy way to do this is by going to the aaplog website at www.aaplog.org and clicking on the “Donations” button at the top of the page. You can then give by credit card online. One note- whenever you donate by credit card, you should get an immediate on-line receipt, and a same day email receipt for tax exempt purposes. If you do not get a receipt, notify us at prolffeob@gmail.com Very important: If you have used our donation button in the past, and did not get an immediate receipt, please check your credit card statement. It is likely that the donation did not go through. We discovered that this was a problem second half of March, and it has been corrected. But, that did leave us in need of some additional generosity on the part of our membership. So, if you can participate now in our work together for life by giving an additional donation, we’d really appreciate that and put it to good use. This is an exciting time of growth and opportunity. Let’s pull together and make use of the time to encourage our profession to value and care for all human life. ATTENTION: NEW YORKERS!!! Governor Cuomo is not backing away from his proposal to expand abortion in New York. New Yorkers do not think there is a need for more abortion, but apparently we need to make that clearer to Governor Cuomo and State Legislators! Join us on Monday, April 15, at 5pm at the Albany State Capitol Building, for a CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR LIFE. We’ll provide the candles and signs, all we need is your presence to be counted as part of the thousands across the State of New York who believe pregnant women need more support, not more abortion.
