The 2027 Matthew Bulfin Educational Conference (MBEC) is approaching; spots are filling up – have you registered?
Next year’s theme is “The Strength and Beauty of Life‑Affirming Medicine,” and it will be held in St. Louis, Missouri from February 26-28. (With exciting pre-conference sessions on Feb. 25). The schedule is packed with insightful presentations from researchers, bioethicists, and fellow clinicians who will answer some of the most challenging questions facing our profession today. For the first time, our breakout sessions are organized into four tracks in order to better meet your needs: OB/GYN, Peds, Pregnancy Centers and Students/Residents!
Meet a few of our speakers below:
Keynote Speaker: Abdu Murray, “The Algorithm Will See You Now: AI and Its Impact on Medical Practice.”
Abdu Murray is a speaker and writer with Embrace the Truth. A life-long adherent of Islam, Murray became a Christian after nearly a decade of investigating historical, philosophical, theological, and scientific questions. He has written five books, including his latest entitled “Fake ID: How A.I. and Identity Ideology Are Collapsing Reality – And What to Do About It.” Murray has also debated and spoken in countries around the world regarding his Christian faith and worldview.
About the Talk: Artificial intelligence can be a capable colleague in the exam room. The question is what happens next. Every caregiver relationship rests on an understanding AI can never authentically have: the person across from you is worth knowing, not just diagnosing. Reliance on AI erodes that understanding incrementally, one efficient shortcut at a time. This talk examines how AI is reshaping our view of what a human being actually is — and why that shift matters urgently in medical caregiving, especially obstetrics and gynecology, where two patients, not one, depend on being seen as more than data.
Keynote Speaker: Jean Twenge, Ph.D., “Generations: The Real Differences Between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers, and Silents.”
Jean Twenge holds a bachelors and master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a doctorate from the University of Michigan. She currently serves as a professor of psychology at San Diego State University and has authored or co-authored nearly 200 scientific publications and seven books, including “Generations: The Real Differences between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers and Silents—and What They Mean for America’s Future.” You can also find her writing at the Generation Tech Substack.
About the Talk: Dr. Twenge will review the important differences between living generations and how that impacts our interactions with them in a medical setting based on her book Generations.
Donna Harrison, M.D., “Ethical Considerations in Ending a Previable Pregnancy for Maternal-Fetal Vital Conflict.”
Most of you know Dr. Harrison, our CEO Emerita and a board-certified OB/GYN who received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biochemistry from Michigan State University and her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Michigan, with additional studies in international medicine at the University of Arizona-Tucson. She has worked in medical education, private clinical practice (including health projects in India and Haiti), and, most recently, women’s health policy. Formerly the CEO of AAPLOG for a decade, her work included establishing the MBEC.
Monica Snyder, “Supporting Secular People Through Reproductive Grief.”
Monica Snyder made her MBEC speaker debut at MBEC 2026 and is returning for MBEC 2027. Monica is the executive director of Secular Pro-Life, a pro-life organization focused on coalition-building and reaching secular individuals with an anti-abortion message. As a pro-life atheist, she has two degrees from California universities and has spent much of her adult life in secular spaces, training others and engaging in advocacy conversations with pro-abortion peers.
About the Talk: Medical training tends to prepare clinicians for the physical aspects of reproductive loss, but not for the emotional and psychological support patients need afterward. While pro-life medical professionals are more likely to recognize these needs, the tools available to them are often faith-based. This session addresses the gap. It examines the specific barriers secular people face in processing reproductive grief, and offers a practical framework grounded in empathy, patience, and respect for supporting each person in their own circumstances. This session equips medical professionals to provide skilled, compassionate care in an area of practice that remains largely overlooked.
Monica Minjuer, DO, “Environmental Contributors to Unexplained Infertility and Cycle Symptoms.”
Dr. Monica Minjeur is a brand new MBEC speaker! She is the founder and CEO of the Radiant Clinic, which directly serves Iowa and many other states nationwide via telehealth.
As a restorative medicine physician, she specializes in treating gynecological conditions and restoring menstrual cycles to improve health and fertility. She serves on the board of NeoFertility and is also the U.S. director of communications and development for the International Institute of Restorative Reproductive Medicine. She has also completed additional medical training in NeoFertility, NaProTECHNOLOGY, and FEMM Medical Management.
About the Talk: Unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, irregular cycles, and shortened luteal phases often lack a clear cause on standard hormonal workup. This session examines endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) — including BPA, phthalates, parabens, PFAS, and pesticides — as an underrecognized contributor, reviewing how these compounds mimic estrogen, block progesterone and androgen receptors, and impair peripheral thyroid hormone conversion. Using a de-identified patient case, this talk introduces a practical “in, on, around” framework for environmental history-taking and prioritized, non-alarmist exposure-reduction counseling — giving clinicians a structured way to incorporate environmental assessment into reproductive and hormonal health evaluations.
