AAPLOG welcomes organizational members; we view them as our partners in the fight to restore a life-affirming ethic to our society’s healthcare. From time to time, we will spotlight some of these organizations and the work that they do.
Snowflakes Embryo Adoption is one of our member organizations. This program, established by Nightlight® Christian Adoptions 25 years ago, allows parents with embryos remaining in frozen storage to select the family who will adopt their embryos and give birth to their adopted children. It is the world’s first embryo adoption program.
According to Snowflakes, there are well over 1,000,000 embryos in frozen storage in the U.S. Without embryo adoption programs, these embryonic human beings risk being discarded as medical waste. There are many ways to donate embryos. Snowflakes has chosen to apply the best practices of adoption to this process.
The Snowflakes program:
- Helps embryo donors qualify and prepare for choosing an embryo adopting family;
- Ensures that the embryo donation process follows FDA compliance;
- Offers personal, thorough matching services;
- Offers secure legal contracts for embryo donation and embryo adoption;
- Gives adoptive mothers the opportunity to give birth to their adopted child.
You can find their various locations in AAPLOG’s online organization directory, by state. To read stories of families whose children were born through the Snowflakes program, click here.
We are hoping to periodically highlight an organizational member like Snowflakes in these member updates. If you are an organizational member and have a program that may be of general interest to our members across the country, please don’t hesitate to reach out with information about it.
