We would like to share with you information about your two choices, and what those choices might mean for you physically and emotionally.
Life: Good for your baby and for you
Choosing to bring your baby to birth is not just good for your baby, but it is good for you, too. Women who deliver full-term babies face a number of positive physical and mental health benefits compared to women who choose to abort, including: – Mothers who give their unborn child the gift of birth tend to be overall happier with their decision to give birth than mothers who abort their unborn child, even when the child was unplanned, according to a major analysis of published research. – Mothers who give their unborn child the gift of birth protect their own body from the damage that can happen when their womb is forced open and scraped out during an abortion. So if you give birth you have a better chance of being able to carry another pregnancy to term in the future than if you abort your unborn child. That is because pregnancy hormones cause your breast tissue to mature at the end of a full-term pregnancy, and when your breast tissue has matured to be able to make milk, your breast gains protection from breast cancer. [abortion and breast cancer risks] So, carrying your baby to term can have some positive benefits for you physically and emotionally.
Abortion: Hurts your baby and it hurts you
Cho0sing to end the life of your child in abortion not only results in the death of your child, but it can cause severe complications for you as well. As Ob/Gyn doctors who care for women, we want you to know before you choose to end the life of your unborn child, that abortion can hurt you too. Medical science has shown that: 1. Choosing to abort your child either by surgery or with drugs can damage your womb, which can lead to a higher risk of future pre-term births. Your reproductive organs are designed to hold a baby until term and then open to deliver the baby when the baby is ready to live outside of your womb. During a surgical abortion, your womb is forced open to to remove your baby. Then the lining of your womb is scraped to remove the tissue which feeds the baby. During this process your womb can experience two types of damage. First, when your womb is forced open to remove the baby, the strong tissue at the opening of your womb can be torn, making it much more difficult to hold another baby in the future. This weakening can cause you to deliver your next baby very early in pregnancy (premature baby). Second, the scraping can cause scarring or chronic infection, which can cause your womb to open and deliver a next baby very early in pregnancy (extremely premature baby). Babies who are born prematurely because of previous abortion are often delivered a little over halfway through the pregnancy (22-28 weeks instead of the normal 40 weeks) and require months of intensive care. There are over 150 studies that have been conducted over the last four decades which have shown this increased risk in women who chose abortion. Even just one abortion increases your risk of premature birth in later pregnancies by about 30%; two abortions increase your risk by more than 100%; and three or more abortions increase your risk by around 800%. The more often you chose abortion, the greater the damage to your womb and the greater the increased risk. Babies born so prematurely are at increased risk of severe health problems that can last a lifetime or even death, all as a consequence of the damage to your womb from the earlier abortion. 2. Choosing to abort your child also increases your risk of later depression, which also increases your risk of later suicide. Many women feel pressured into abortion because it solves the problems for other people in their life. Many women especially feel pressured by a boyfriend or parents not to bring their unborn child to birth. Ultimately, as a mother, it is you who have to live with the knowledge of that child. Who might your child have become if the circumstances in your life would have been more supportive? No one has the right to force you to abort your child and live with that question for the rest of your life. According to an analysis of medical studies around the world, women who have chosen to abort experience an 81% increased risk for mental health problems. The results showed that the level of increased risk associated with abortion varies from 34% to 230% depending on the nature of the outcome: the increased risk for anxiety disorders was 34%; for depression it was 37%; for alcohol use/abuse it was 110%, for marijuana use/abuse it was 220%, and for suicide behaviors it was 155%. Looking just at women who have unintended pregnancies, women who abort their unintended pregnancy have a 55% increased risk of experiencing any mental health problem as compared to women who carry an unintended pregnancy to birth. Studies have shown that women are at increased risk for regret and poor mental health outcomes if they experience any of the following: – An existing mental illness or disorder prior to the abortion – Significant ambivalence about the decision – Perceived coercion to have the abortion – Commitment to the pregnancy – Past childhood sexual abuse – And more If any these apply to you, then consider the benefit that you may have by bringing your pregnancy to birth. There are crisis pregnancies centers around the country who can help you in practical ways to ease the financial and social pressures that you are experiencing right now. Once again, our friends at Option Line and Pregnancy Decision Line can help. 3. If this is your first child, and you have never carried a child to term, choosing to abort your child may increase your risk of breast cancer. The hormones that the pregnancy makes cause your breast tissue to develop during the first part of the pregnancy. This kind of rapidly growing breast tissue is susceptible to cancer. But, in the last few months of the pregnancy, the pregnancy hormones cause your breast to mature and be able to make milk. Milk producing breast tissue is resistant to cancer. This resistance continues throughout your life. And you get even more protection if you breast feed for at least 6 months. That’s why carrying a pregnancy to term and breast feeding protects you. If you abort your baby, especially in the middle stages of your pregnancy, you will keep your breast tissue in an immature state, susceptible to cancer causing agents, until you have another pregnancy that you carry to term. You will not hear about these risks from your abortionist. That is because your abortionist will only get paid if you choose abortion. They financially benefit from coercing you to choose abortion So we want to give you a second opinion and give you information that you need to make an informed choice before you make a choice that cannot be undone.
